How do you start to compare credit cards? Finding out the best credit card to suit your needs can be a very time consuming process but one which can save you money and bring you more benefits than just choosing a credit card at random or the one which accepts your application first.

There are many different types of credit cards on the market but knowing which way you are going to deal with your finances before you apply for one could help you choose the best credit card for you.

If you pay off the total amount of your credit card bill every month then you would benefit from a reward credit card. Reward credit cards can offer cash back if you prefer or if you are a traveler then a credit card that offers air miles would benefit you.

If you already have a credit card, with a big balance, and are looking to switch to another then you may want to take advantage of a 0% balance transfer deal where the balance on your current credit card can be transferred without interest being added for an introductory period. Ultimately this will cost you less and gives you the opportunity to pay off your balance a little quicker. Before choosing your 0% balance transfer credit card be aware of the interest rate after your initial interest free period as some cards can have a high interest rate so look around.

For the more extravagant spender, a 0% purchase credit card could be right up your street. In the first several months as an introductory offer there will be 0% interest on what you spend on your credit card meaning you may afford that little luxury item as you won’t be paying interest on your payment.

If you have a bad credit history and are worried whether you would be able to obtain a credit card or not, don’t worry, as there are lenders that will deal with your case, although you will most probably be charged a higher interest rate. Credit cards can benefit you if you have had previous bad debt to rebuild yourself a good credit history.

All of these different types of credit cards also have other added benefits included and you should look at them more in depth. You can save a lot of money by comparing credit cards and the hard work of choosing the best credit card will pay off, right into your back pocket.

Word Count:Article Body:
If you are looking for a new credit card then obviously 0% interest credit cards hold a lot of appeal for you. Anything at 0% interest nowadays grabs everyone’s attention, for that matter! But as far as these 0% interest credit card offers go, there is a lot of subtle dodging that credit card companies and bank card issuers engage in to ensure you catch the bait.

So just go ahead and admit it. You are hooked. The 0% APR credit cards ad that you just saw in the brochure attached in the morning newspaper has piqued your interest. But seriously … are these 0% interest credit cards for real?

The truth is they are and they are not. There are cards that live up to the promise of a 0% APR credit card, but the truth is that this 0% interest does not last long. It might just be an initial gimmick to get you to subscribe to the card offer and once youre a cardholder, you have the 0% APR for just a limited time (3 months, 6 months, or if youre very lucky 12 months) before they start charging you a higher rate of interest. The credit card game is truly an interesting one to watch, but not if you are the suffering player. Read on to know what you can do to make sure you are not the sufferer.

Understanding 0% APR Credit Cards

Yes, 0% APR credit cards do, in fact, hold a lot of enticement. But here is what you must do when you find a 0% APR card that has gotten your attention. Pay attention to the following:

1) How long the no-interest period will last?
2) Can you transfer other balances at the 0% rate?
3) What will the APR be after the introductory period ends?

When you are done assessing these factors, you can properly compare all of the interest credit card options available.

The Luxuries of Owning a 0% APR Credit Card

If youve already accumulated a huge debt on your previous credit cards, theres good news for you. A 0% APR credit card can benefit consumers bad credit histories in a big way, if (and that’s a big if) they can get approved for the card offer itself. That being said, a 0% APR credit offer allows cardholders to drastically cut down the interest being incurred on existing debt while it can also help consolidate debts on other outstanding high APR card balances. There are typically balance transfer fees associated with this type of consolidation, but if your credit is sufficient enough, you might be able to avoid fees altogether.

Pitfalls of 0 Interest Credit Cards

1) Most 0% interest credit cards offer 0% interest or no interest only for a limited amount of time, which varies between 6 to 12 months.

2) If youre thinking of transferring balances from high interest credit cards, some of these cards might not even allow you to do so during the introductory 0% offer period.

3) Some 0% interest credit cards might also charge very high balance transfer fees.

4) Some of these cards also carry very high penalties for late payments and
automatically switch you to a much higher variable APR after incurring even a single late payment.

5) Some 0% APR credit cards charge a very high interest rate after the introductory (read honeymoon) period.

Yes, the picture is definitely not all rosy, even though you can most definitely save money on interest charges by using 0% interest credit cards judiciously. If cardholders fail to pay off their card balances prior to the introductory offer expiration, if they fail to make payments on time, or generally disregard their credit responsibilities, these credit cards can end up costing consumers significantly more than most will anticipate.

College Student Credit Cards – How to Choose the Best One

Word Count:Article Body:
There are so many credit cards being offered to college students these days that it may be difficult to choose the right college student credit card. It is important to choose carefully to make sure that you have the best deal and rates available.

The interest rate that a college credit card charges is extremely important to take into account. The fact is that when you make a purchase on a college credit card you are, in effect, borrowing money from the credit card issuer. You must pay a monthly interest rate on this loan unless you pay your balance off in full every month. So, you want to have a college credit card with the lowest annual percentage rate and the longest 0% interest introductory period. The majority of college credit cards will be very similar in these two regards so the next point to consider is the rewards that you receive for using the credit card.

For most students, their college credit cards are the first proper credit cards that they will have had and they will not be familiar with the types of rewards that are the best. The three main reward types that are most useful for students are:

* Frequent flyer miles
* Cash back
* Free gas

Frequent flyer miles are the best rewards to have with a college credit card for students who are attending a college a long distance from home. As you use your college credit card you accumulate frequent flyer miles that you can exchange for flights back home or wherever you want to go. Unlike airline reward schemes, frequent flyer miles can be used on any participating airline, worldwide.

Cash back on a college credit card is actually a points system. As you spend money these points accumulate against your college credit card and they can be exchanged for cash, gift certificates or special discounts at popular outlets and stores. The amount of cash back that a college credit card awards may seem small but every little helps and you will soon be racking it up.

Free gas when you use your college credit card is the best option for students who have their own car. Gas prices are getting higher and some college credit cards offer rewards to help with the rising cost of motoring with rebates against gas station purchases. These free gas college credit cards also offer discounts and points towards other motoring related items so it is worth comparing the different schemes available.

Word Count:Article Body:
With so many reward credit cards to choose from, how can you pick the best one for you? Here are some questions which you can ask yourself before deciding on which reward credit card you’ll be getting for yourself:

What type of reward do you really want? Rewards credit card may offer travel rewards, gas rewards, and cash back rewards. Which type of reward really suits your lifestyle? Make sure that the reward program you’ll choose is something that you can really benefit from.

Does it have an annual fee? Some reward credit cards charge for a high annual fee to continue your membership in the rewards program. If this is the case, does the annual fee off set the rewards you earn for the whole year? For example, if you need to spend $100 or more for the annual fee just to get a $50 reward points, then that’s not much of a benefit. However, there are many reward credit cards today that offer a free annual or a low annual fee plus the chance to earn unlimited reward points which truly make a great deal.

Does the credit card have a fixed rate or a variable rate? Most reward credit cards have a fixed APR or 0% APR as introductory offer. However, when the introductory period ends, a variable APR applies. Bear in mind that this means your interest rate will be based upon the Prime Rate so there is a risk that when the Prime Rate increases, your APR can also be incredibly high. Also, remember that credit cards have a minimum cap which means even if the Prime Rate falls dramatically, your interest will not go below the minimum cap.

How much will it take before you get a reward? Study carefully the point system that applies on the credit card reward program that you choose. You need to be especially aware about the exact conditions when it comes to earning and redeeming rewards even before you sign up the card.

Does the one point per dollar spent policy apply on general purchases or does it only apply to purchases you’ve made from selected stores? If so, then you might want to consider if the affiliate shop you need to purchase from is a store that offers reasonable prices. If you need to buy from an expensive shop every time just to collect points, then you might only be spending more than what you can afford.

Is if there is a limit on the number of points you can earn? Some credit cards give generous points for their cardholders but only for a limited time period. Afterwards, you may be restricted to earning just a few points in your account.

Is there also an expiration period for collecting rewards? Will the rewards be forfeited if not redeemed after a certain time period? Be sure that the credit card you choose will give you enough time for collecting and earning points, especially if it’s a travel rewards card. Otherwise, you might end up collecting points in vain just because you didn’t earn enough points in time. Better yet, choose the rewards credit card that lets you save as much point as you can for an unlimited period.

When it comes to 0% APR credit cards, you may be wondering how you can take full advantage of these offers. There are many f them out there, actually. The ability to offer this service is usually something of a ploy though. To get you into their card products, card issuers may offer 0% APR abilities as an introductory. Yet, even if this is only an introductory offer, you can still find these benefits to be rather rewarding. If you take a few minute to consider what is out there, you may see that you qualify and can benefit from these 0 interest credit cards.

What Are They?

The first thing for you to do is to understand what 0% APR credit cards actually are. Having this card will allow you to use credit without any interest accumulating on the amount that you have borrowed. Any fees including annual fees will still apply, but this amount of money is not something that you have to worry about having a 25% interest rate charge on top of, at least, not at first.

The 0% APR credit card is offered strictly as an introductory rate. It is never offered for the life of the card or even for an extended amount of time beyond say, 12 months. You will most certainly have this 0% interest for just a limited time. Sometimes it is just a few months, other times it can be as long 15 months for some of the longer, extended introductory APR offers. The goal that you should have is to take full advantage of this offer within the timeframe of the introductory offer and consider how it can benefit you.

Your Benefits

First off, you should look very closely at the particulars of each 0% APR credit cards offer that you are considering. Ask yourself the following questions:

* How long does the card offer keep this introductory rate?

* What is the ongoing APR after that introductory period is over?

* Is this an APR that you can live with, especially if you are a cardholder that tends to carry large card balances?

* Are there other fees that you should take into consideration, such as an annual fee?

* How well does this compare to your current credit cards?

* How well does it compare overall to the other offers you are considering?

Since all credit card offers are a bit different, make sure you read the details before you just accept any offer out there.

Your benefits come in when you can take what is being offered to you, in this case a 0% APR credit card, and use it to your advantage to save money, and in some instances, a lot of money. Lets say that you currently have a credit card that you have a 25% APR on, which is considered anything but cheap. Now, you are looking to find a way to lower the amount but the lender wont offer a drop in the APR (you should always call and ask for your current lender to lower your APR!) One thing that you should also do is determine if your 0% APR credit card offer applies to purchase, balance transfers or both. If the introductory rate only applies to balance transfers, you should move your outstanding balances to the new account, and ultimately pay it off before the introductory period ends. If the introductory APR applies only to new purchases, you should use this new card
strictly for all new purchases while continuing to pay down the balances on your higher APR cards. And if the 0% introductory APR applies to both purchases and balance transfers, you should centralize all of your card activity around this card for the entirety of the introductory period.

The key to any of these credit card strategies is an aggressive card balance repayment plan that minimizes the compounding effect of high APR finance charges. If you let your card balances continue to roll over, you are likely to end up paying just as much, if not much more, on the credit card anyway. Yet, those six months or more of no interest can be a true blessing to those that pay down their balances aggressively within the timeframe of the introductory period.

The era of 0% APR credit cards is still with us. Yes, you can obtain a spanking new credit card featuring a very low introductory interest rate and take advantage of what amounts to “free money” for you for up to one year. You can use your new card to your advantage, but you must be careful that you fully understand how a 0% APR credit card works to order to maximize its effectiveness. I will show you how, so please keep reading for all the informative details!

Soon after the new millennium started, interest rates began to drop to historically low levels. By 2002, loan rates for government funds dipped to just less than one percent, pushing consumer loan rates down with it as well. Credit card providers, seeing a terrific opportunity unfolding, immediately began to offer 0% APR credit cards to new card holders and even extended the offer to their current customers.

Today, interest rates have been climbing for two years, but 0% APR credit card offers are still available to you. Quite frankly, the entire lending business is very competitive and credit card providers are willing to forego interest for up to twelve months in order to get your business.

To maximize the effectiveness of 0% APR credit cards, there are a few things that you must know:

Limited Time Offer. 0% APR credit cards contain an introductory period lasting typically from six to twelve months. This means that anything you charge during that time will not accumulate interest. Go ahead and spread out your payments over several months: If you purchase something for $1000, you can make four equal payments of $250 interest free. Keep earning interest on your savings and let the credit card company fund your purchase!

Transfer Balances and Save Big! Many 0% APR credit card offers will allow you to transfer balances from your existing credit cards to your new card and waive transfer fees. If you owe $3000 on your current credit cards and are paying 19% interest on your balances, you could save nearly $600 in interest payments over twelve month’s time!

Pay On Time. Do not be lulled into thinking that a 0% APR credit card doesn’t require monthly payments. If you miss a payment or are late, you could find that your remaining balance is subject to interest charges and penalties as your card shifts to a default rate. Pay on time or kiss your 0% APR credit card rate goodbye!

Pay It All Off. In some cases, you must pay off your balance before the introductory rate period expires. If you don’t, the default rate kicks in. Make certain that you clearly understand your card’s terms.

Clearly, a 0% APR credit card has strong advantages for the person seeking to make new purchases as well as someone who wants to transfer their balances. Use a 0% APR credit card to your advantage and put some money back in your pocket!

A 0% APR credit card is an opportunity for you to cash in on a good amount of savings across the board. If you are like many, you are realizing that this might be a great way to realize true benefits from a credit card without having to pay much for it. Yet, there is much more to know about these 0% APR credit cards. You should take the time necessary to find the right opportunities for your specific needs. In many cases, this is a great option, if used in the right manner.

What Is 0% APR?

When a company offers you a credit card at a 0% APR, they are basically allowing you to borrow funds for no interest. There are generally some fees that are associated with the credit offers, but in most cases, you will see that they are still quite an affordable option. In most cases, the APR that is offered to you will one of two types. Some credit cards will offer you a standard APR, or annual percentage rate that is the rate you will likely hold for the time that you hold the line of funds. Others will offer a lower introductory offer. Normally, a 0% interest credit card is offered for an introductory time period only.

Should You Use It?

If you have the choice between two offers of credit, one with a lower rate than the other, you may be tempted to just go with the lowest offer. Yet, there is more to it than just that. In fact, you need to consider what the interest rate will be after the introductory period is over. For example, if you have two offers, one lower in the six month introductory period than the other, you may be tempted to go with the lowest offer. Yet, in the long term, that line of credit may have a higher rate. Determine which offers the best overall ability for you to get what you need in the least expensive manner.

The Benefits Of 0%

Yet, even with that said, there are plenty of benefits of selecting a 0% APR credit card. For example, if you know that you will be paying off that line of credit quickly, within the introductory period, it is well worth making the switch. After all, there is not anything better than borrowing money for free. If you have a credit card currently that has a much higher interest rate, you can save yourself quite a few fees if you do a balance transfer to the 0% APR credit cards as well. Here, make sure that the rate applies to balance transfers before making the move.

In short, a 0% APR credit card is an opportunity for you to invest in paying less. To benefit from them, make sure to get all the facts and take the time necessary to compare them. To find these offers, simply check out the opportunities offered by the lenders. Most credit card companies do offer some form of introductory rate reduction offer including 0% interest credit cards.

Balance Transfer Credit Card Offers: What You Need To Know

Is a balance transfer credit card your ticket out of credit card debt? It can be. If youre having trouble paying off a steep balance and the high interest that goes with it, a balance transfer credit card could be the right solution for you. But before filling out an application, take a few factors into consideration. Educate yourself on the balance transfer process, and youll get the most out of your credit card experience.

What Balance Transfer Credit Cards Are

Balance transfer credit cards have a certain appeal that separates them from other forms of plastic. They offer applicants the chance to shift a balance from a high-interest card to a low-interest one. In fact, most balance transfer cards come with an initial 0% interest period. This means you can make payments that are directly applied toward the balance. As you pay down the debt, you can save hundreds of dollars on interest expense.

How to Compare Balance Transfer Credit Cards

Many balance transfer credit cards appear to be the same, but in reality they vary quite a bit. Check the following details as you sift through the options:

Length of introductory period The initial period of no interest may be as short as three months, or as long as fifteen months. If you aim for at least 12 months of 0% interest, youll have ample time to pay off the balance.

What the 0% APR applies to Some balance transfer credit cards offer you 0% APR only on the balance. This means that you will be charged a higher interest rate when you make a purchase. Moreover, all the payments you send in will first be applied to the balance, and then to the purchases. While you pay down the balance, the new purchases and their attached high interest rates will sit and accrue on your statements. Eventually, you could pay more in high interest than you planned on. To avoid this, look for a card that offers 0% APR on both balances and purchases. Or limit the use of your card until you pay off the transferred balance.

Check the fees Most balance transfer credit cards charge an initial fee for bringing over the new balance. This is sometimes a certain percentage of the balance amount. Banks often include a cap, such as $50 or $75, on the balance transfer fee. The savings you receive on interest usually outweighs this expense.

Additional benefits While balance transfer cards offer you a chance to pay off nagging debt, many come with other features as well. Some balance transfer credit cards include a rewards program. Others have a low interest rate that kicks in after the introductory period. Think long-term before you apply. Consider what benefits youll want after you are debt-free.

Using your Balance Transfer Card

Balance transfer credit cards can be a solid solution if they are used properly. After you have made the balance, think about creating a payment plan to get rid of the debt. Set aside money each month for card payments. If at all possible, pay off the balance before the introductory period runs out. As the balance dwindles, youll gain control of your finances. Youll also begin to build a stronger credit history. When the balance is gone, youll be able to enjoy the cards additional benefits.

Word Count:Article Body:
Choosing the best credit cards to meet your personal credit needs is an important step to take. Credit cards are the best for short-term credit borrowing, and if you choose the best credit cards wisely, you won’t be struggling with unmanageable cards payments either. But how do you go about choosing the best cards for your circumstances?

Making a decision about the best cards to carry

Deciding on the best cards to carry in your wallet or purse should not be left to chance. The best decision is to shop around for credit cards instead of plumping for the first credit offers that hit your doormat, as these credit offers are unlikely to be the best for you. Your starting point when looking for the best cards should be an evaluation of how you best intend to use your credit cards, as the best credit cards for you will vary with personal circumstances. For instance, if you want to use your credit cards as a convenient replacement for cash / debit cards when shopping, and your best intention is to pay off your credit balance every month, then the best cards are those that offer the best / longest interest-free period on purchases, and are available without an annual fee. On the other hand, if you are making a large purchase where the best part of your credit balance is to be carried over for several months then credit cards with a high personal limit and low APR rate are going to be the best.

Many people choose to carry several credit cards so they can move their debt around to the best of their ability without incurring substantial interest payments. Best Credit Card Balance Transfer Rate: It Pays To Shop Around

Smart shopping for 0% APR credit cards can save consumers hundreds of dollars in interest charges. Many consumers do not think to shop around for credit cards. However, with 60 percent of grocery store purchases being made with credit cards, the decision as to which card the consumer uses can have an impact on how much is paid in interest. One way you can save money in interest charges is to shop around for a 0% APR credit card to transfer existing balances to. The concept of shopping for the best interest rates is not new for purchases such as homes and cars, but so few consumers stop to think about shopping around for the best credit card deal.

0% APR credit cards save consumers money

It is possible for you to save hundreds of dollars a year by transferring balances to a 0% APR credit card. Here is how it works: A consumer applies for a new credit card with a special introductory interest rate of 0% APR for balance transfers. After gaining approval, the consumer transfers the balance of his or her credit cards to the new card. Some companies may waive the balance transfer fee, but a standard fee is usually a small percentage of the transferred balance. Whether the old card has a low 8.9% APR, or whether it has a higher 15.9% APR, the potential savings are well worth the transfer. For the entire introductory period (usually 6 to 12 months) it is possible for consumers to avoid paying interest on their credit card debt.

Sorting through 0% APR credit card deals

Some web sites provide you with an objective way to look at credit card offers. It is even possible to use a calculator to figure out how much you can save by transferring balances to a 0% APR credit card. Consumers receive the information they need to help them decide on the credit card balance transfer offer that works best for them. Objective side-by-side comparisons allow a more complete picture of available credit cards. When you find a card that you like, it is also possible to apply for that card instantly from the web site. Helpful links to the credit card companies allow you to receive instant approval on their credit cards.

A word of caution

A 0% APR credit card balance transfer is a financial tool that can greatly benefit consumers. However, as with all financial tools, it is important to use it wisely. Consumers should be aware that failure to pay at least the minimum payment on time can result in an immediate end to the introductory period. Many credit cards, however, provide an automatic debit system or an online bill pay option. This can help consumers set up automatic payments that ensure that there are no late payments.

Shopping around for the best bargain is a way of life for many. Applying that rule to credit card applications can mean that you get to keep more of your hard earned cash.
